Ahhhh Scotland, the home of golf, the golf mecca, the ultimate golf experience – there are many terms to describe the excitement of playing golf in Scotland and every golfer should have it on their “must-do” list.
Golf in Scotland was first recorded in the 15th century. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, known as the R&A, is the world governing body for the game (except in the United States and Mexico).
To many golfers, the Old Course at St Andrews, an ancient links course dating to before 1574, is considered to be a site of pilgrimage and if planning on playing this course, plans should be made a full year in advance.
Our staff have an excellent relationship with many prominent golf courses in Scotland including the world famous and ever popular Old Course – where with advance planning we can provide guaranteed tee times. Please ask us about the ballot versus application process for confirming tee times at St. Andrews Old Course.
There are many famous other golf courses in Scotland, including Carnoustie, Gleneagles, Muirfield, Royal Troon and many off the beaten path and hidden gems. In fact, there are over 550 golf courses in Scotland, the itineraries listed are just the “short list” tip of the iceberg of what is available in this beautiful country.
